Get to know Udhay Velmurugan,
Manager, Product Engineering, D365 F&O
Where were you born, do you have brother or sisters, pets?
I was born in Thoothukudi, India which is a port city located down south of India. I grew up there until I’m 18-year-old after which I moved to Chennai (450 miles away) for my graduates. Since then, I have been in and around Chennai. Both these cities are close to my heart, and they hold integral part of my life.

As a family, I am the elder one in the family and I have a brother who have recently completed his graduates and started his career. My dad is a computer programming tutor who have been in this field for the past 33 yrs and my mom is a home maker.

I got married 5 yrs back in 2016 to Libarna (my wife) and now were a beautiful family 4 with two beautiful daughters (Dhruti and Ridhvi).
Do you play any sports?
​I enjoy playing volleyball and cricket during my free time but its been a while I play them regularly. Until school I haven balancing my academics with sports and participated in lots of inter and intra school sports activities like Athletics, cricket, football. Personally never got a chance to be a professional in any of the sport.
What hobbies or pastimes do you enjoy?
I’m a big fan of Cricket so I love watching cricket anytime and I do love hearing some Tamil movie songs. Apart from these things I am someone who doesn’t get tried of driving so I love to drive anytime so long drives are part of my life which definitely include some beaches during the journey.

Also would love to eat good local foods in the any city I’m in and explore some new restaurants.
How did you get into consulting?
​My career was shaped in such a way to be part of an ERP system and I landed in Microsoft Dynamics in 2013 before which I spent few months in AS 400. I spent few years as AX developer in few companies after which moved to an ISV partner based out of Denmark and that’s where I learnt how any ISV would work and finally landed in SIS which is also an ISV partner and now happy to be integral part of Construct 365.
What is your favorite book or what are you reading now?
I am not a big fan of Books but given a chance to select between PDF / ebooks and hard copies, I would go with hard copies of any technology books and understand a new product or technology
If you could go anywhere, right now, where would it be and why?
I have been in Europe (Denmark) for few months so given a chance I would go back there. Major reason for the love is the way how work-life is balanced in European countries. Other reasons could be food, people and public transport connectivity
